And then we wouldn't get stories like this.
If every single other country that CAN afford universal health care, DOES have universal healthcare - and pays less percentage of the budget than the United States does - there's a problem here.
1 out of every 7 americans do not have health care. 46 million people.
We can do better.

Time for a National Health Care System

Re: Time for a National Health Care System
oh, dude, don't get me started . . . but you did! :) did you know that we currently actually pay More than we would if we had universal care? the basic scenario: uninsured people wait until their once-easily treatable conditions become an emergency, then rush to the emergency room, then need expensive treatment, get on medicaid, and so taxpayers foot the bill anyway. And the canadian system has its problems - nothing like waiting a year to see a specialist :) - and great britian has its issues - much of it is political in terms of different areas getting different extras based on their primary doc who acts like a gatekeeper and advocates for special needs (ie, coal miners get extra $ for lung related treatments). but in the u.s. - we pay more per capita for health services and yet are nowehre near the top of the list in terms of overall health of our citizens . . . did you know that Hillary is back at it with health care? She's a NY senator and is going for universal health insurance for all children . . .

From your mouth to God's ears. It's amazing that the U.S. is setup this way.
