I do find the diagram very useful, with the ideal area being number 3 of the diagram.

I also have doubts that one's "genius" is necessarily what is needed, or what you love.  A good example of this is, say, spiritual achievement, or helping others spiritually.  I myself LOVE this - yet I cannot say I'm the best achiever, or useful at helping others spiritually. 

So the favorite avocation is not necessarily the vocation.

That is why the diagram is more realistic, to what reality is giving me.
