Fascinating article from the New York Times (if you don't have a login, go to BugMeNot, to get one) regarding how, if other people see something different, it can ACTUALLY work at the brain perception level to change what you see.

Perhaps this is one of the reasons why cults form.  Not only is there the social pressure, but that social pressure can actually work at the perceptive level.
