I'd like to recommend, as well, a great article referenced in an American Buddhist Perspective post, "The Death of Environmentalism: Global Warming Politics in a Post Environmental World."

The paper is uber-integral, making the case that environmentalism has been a colossal failure for the past quarter of a century and that we need to stop this political infighting and stop thinking of the environment as a 'thing' belonging to a special interest.
