Hi eBuddha,
I didn't know about this until I read your post. I am saddened by his passing. I spent a day and evening with Douglas Harding several years ago. I found his teaching very direct, immediate, and accessible. His style of teaching was gentle, even playful, yet profound at the same time. That evening I dined with Douglas, his lovely wife, and a few friends. He had great intellectual curiosity about my work (I'm a software developer), and exhibited an animated, childlike (in the best sense of the word) sense of wonder, even at his advanced age. I recommend his books On Having No Head and The Science of the First Person (the latter may be hard to get). I, and I'm sure many others, are richer from his teaching and his presence. Thanks for the memories - I've always heard good things, but I never met the man myself. I love some of the interactive exercises that are on the net now, regarding his teachings.
