Actually, it wasn't the first time there was an invited Hindu invocation, nor was it the first time that Christian conservatives threw a hissy fit. It happened in 2000 when a Hindu priest officiated at the invitation of another Congresswoman, on the occasion of the Indian PM addressing a joint session.
